Rachel Kutner, Psy.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Rachel Kutner is a licensed clinical psychologist and the director/founder of Central CBT. Dr. Kutner specializes in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and addictive disorders. She has extensive training in evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatments such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Dr. Kutner received her specialized training as a postdoctoral fellow at My OCD Care, a thriving mental health practice and training center in New York City. Prior to joining My OCD Care, Dr. Kutner completed her pre-doctoral internship at Interborough Developmental and Consultation Center, where she provided mental health services to individuals and families impacted by trauma. Dr. Kutner received additional training in addiction recovery through the SMART Recovery training program where she was certified as a facilitator for addiction recovery groups. Dr. Kutner also received advanced parent training under Dr. Eli Lebowitz at Yale School of Medicine. She provides treatment for parents of children with anxiety or OCD based on his program, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).

Dr. Kutner is also a New York State Certified school psychologist. She completed her doctoral degree at Hofstra University’s combined school/community program, where she received comprehensive training on conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations. She completed her pre-doctoral school-based internship at West Elementary School, Long Beach. Dr. Kutner’s research interests include child development and relationship satisfaction, and she presented research on the topic of “Increasing Task Persistence in Learners with Down Syndrome” at Queens College.

Dr. Kutner devotes herself to providing evidence-based, high-quality care. Her approach to therapy is active and collaborative, and she places great emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. Dr. Kutner views therapy as the process of two experts working together to create a positive change. Her unconditional acceptance, warmth, and sincerity create an environment that is safe, supportive, and inviting.
