Sharona Laster, Psy.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Sharona Laster is a postdoctoral fellow at Central CBT, specializing in evidence-based treatments for Anxiety, OCD and mood disorders across the lifespan. Dr. Laster received her M.A. and Psy.D from Hofstra University where she conducted research on the effectiveness of a spiritually integrated positive psychology intervention on Orthodox Jewish adolescents. She graduated magna cum laude from Touro College with a bachelor’s in psychology. Dr. Laster completed her predoctoral internship at the NYU Sunset Terrace Family Health Center.
Dr. Laster’s patients are individuals who struggle with anxiety or OCD. She understands that intrusive thoughts and the weight of anxious emotions may attempt to steer your course, disrupting your happiness and making it appear as though life has slipped from your grasp.
Dr. Laster’s goal is to deliver short-term therapy to help individuals reduce their distressing symptoms and enhance their quality of life.
Dr. Laster’s toolkit includes cognitive behavioral therapies, specifically the use of Exposure and Response Prevention and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. With the use of these methods, individuals gradually acquire effective tools to manage anxiety and enhance their well being.
